The East side (bar side) began as a mercantile around 1908 called the California Store.
In 1924 the Papas brothers bought the building and opened the legendary The Club Pool Hall
later shortened to The Club. Outside Two-Bit Street Café you’ll still see The Club’s sign hanging.
Two-Bit Street Café is located on Historic 25 th street in Ogden, Utah. We love having our restaurant here and try to respect and preserve the stories of this street and our building.
The West side of Two-Bit Street was built in 1897. Over the years it has been many different businesses, including a barbershop, shooting gallery, and the Paradise Coffee House.

OUR STORY
1930'S DECO BAR
Our back office is known as The Capone Room.
During the height of his power and influence
notorious gangster, Al Capone had considerable holdings in Ogden,
and would hold poker games in the back room of our building.
These games were known as “the largest stake poker games west of the Mississippi”.
THE CAPONE ROOM
Above the archway you can see a clock with a bullet hole.
The clock was first shot in the 1930’ by a Native American when The Club refused
to cash his check. It was shot again in the 1970’s by a drunken patron who claimed
he could hit the bullet hole. He missed, finally destroying the clocks motor.
TWO-BIT COWBOY
Two-Bit Street Café opened it’s doors in 2003.
Owned by James Dayley and Penny Allred, Penny is still the head chef….
